PREFACE
After the summer break, we are looking forward to an exciting
and insightful GBM-DGZ conference on “Age-related human
diseases with a special focus on Autophagy” at the University
of Tübingen from September 25 to 27. The program, which was
put together by the organizing team around Tassula Proi-
kas-Cezanne on site, promises wonderful science and inter-
actions with colleagues from all around the world. Convince
yourself when looking at the magnificent advertisement video:

Besides invited speakers, especially junior scientists will have
the chance to give a short talk or to present their work on the
interactive poster sessions of the meeting. The meeting, as a
joint event of the GBM and the DGZ also harbors a number of
prize ceremonies from both societies.
The DGZ is going to award the Nikon Young Scientist Award
to Germán Camargo Ortega (Thursday, September 26, 17:25-
17:35, Audimax), the Walther Flemming Award to Constantinos
Demetriades (Friday, September 27, 09:50-10:00, Audimax), the
BINDER Innovation Prize to Meritxell Huch (Thursday, Septem-
ber 26, 09:55-10:05, Audimax) and the Werner Risau-Prize to
Esther Bovay (Friday, September 27, 10:00-10:10, Audimax).
Don't miss these events! Please also keep in mind that DGZ
members will meet during this conference on Thursday,
September 26, 12:30-14:00, location: Museum Tübingen
(Brahmssaal), Wilhelmstraße 3.
Last not least, we are very happy to once more announce
the winner of this year’s Carl Zeiss Lecture, Anthony Hyman,
from the Max-Planck-Institute for Molecular Cell Biology and
Genetics in Dresden. His Carl Zeiss Lecture is scheduled on Sep-
tember 27, 15:10-16:10, Audimax. Please have a look into the
details of the program and try to register for one of the very
last spots to join our meeting!
