WELCOME
Dear Members, Friends and Colleagues,
It is our great pleasure to invite you on behalf of the German
Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (GBM) and the
German Society for Cell Biology (DGZ) to the international con-
ference ‘Age-related Human Diseases – Special Focus Autopha-
gy’, which will take place from Wednesday, September 25th to
Friday, September 27th, 2019 at the Eberhard Karls University
Tübingen, Germany. This conference follows the longstanding
tradition of the GBM holding biannual international confer-
ences, referred to as Herbsttagung.
In 2019, we will be organizing the GBM / DGZ Herbsttagung
as a thematic meeting focusing on molecular mechanisms of
age-related human diseases with about 350 scientists and
more than 20 prestigious speakers from across the globe. The
conference will cover research areas on
• Cancer,
• Neurodegeneration,
• Immunity,
• Metabolism, and
• Molecular mechanisms of autophagy
which will be discussed in consecutive sessions with oral pre-
sentations and price ceremonies between the 25th through the
27th of September 2019.
Preceding, on the evening of the 24th September 2019, we
will outreach to the public by organizing a public lecture, to be
held in German, and discussions on the topic of healthy aging
and autophagy in human.
For details about the scientific program and all congress
related information please regularly visit the congress website
/ which will be regularly
updated. Abstract and registration will start in February 2019.
We trust that the GBM / DGZ Herbsttagung 2019 will offer in-
teresting opportunities for interdisciplinary discussions, as well
as the possibility to initiate new friendships, collaborations,
and joint projects.
We are very much looking forward to welcoming you in Tübin-
gen in September 2019!
Yours sincerely,
Tassula Proikas-Cezanne (Scientific Organizer)
Johannes Herrmann (President of GBM)
Oliver Gruß (President of DGZ)
