Dr. Anne Straube
as Member of the Advisory Board
Education/career:
Anne Straube studied Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in Hamburg. She did her PhD
with Gero Steinberg at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich and the Max Planck
Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology in Marburg working on the microtubule dependent
transport in the fungus Ustilago maydis. She then moved as a Postdoctoral Fellow to the
Wellcome Trust Centre for Cell Biology in Edinburgh, to study microtubules in muscle cell
with Andreas Merdes. In 2007 she started her own lab at the Marie Curie Research Insti-
tute (MCRI) in Oxted. In 2010 Anne moved to the University of Warwick to help found the Centre for Mecha-
nochemical Cell Biology. She is a Lister Institute Research Prize Fellow, Associate Professor in Mechanochemi-
cal Cell Biology and the Director of the MSc program in Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research.
