PREFACE
The German Society of Cell Biology with its members is going
through the difficult times of worldwide pandemic and its
societal challenges. We all had to fight for the continuation of
research and teaching while trying to remain safe and to stay
optimistic.
Although the infection spreads more dramatically than ever,
science may be the key to tackle the problem and sets a light
at the end of the tunnel. We are therefore confident to be able
to meet again as a community in September 2021 in Münster.
We have been taking on the schedule of our meeting with a
focus on the “Cell Biology of Interfaces” (see cover) also thanks
to our invited speakers who share our optimism and confirmed
attendance for the 2021 meeting.
This issue of CellNews, long awaited, also introduces a new
team for the board of the society. Please see the introduction
of candidates of the board, the advisory board and the audi-
tors here in this CellNews issue. Candidates are to be elected,
to which we invite all of you, the DGZ members. The election
will take place online from November 23 to December 7, 2020.
You will be notified individually via email of how to access the
election.
Finally, we all invite you to this years’ member meeting online.
Legislation allows us to use the online format to maintain able
to act. The meeting will take place on December 15, 2020 at
16.00 h. The link for access (with password) will be communi-
cated in a separate email individually to all members.
We hope to meet as many of you as possible in December
online, but then, even more, to get together in person next year
on our International Meeting!

Due to the ongoing measures and precautions in the wake
of the Covid-19 epidemic we will not be able to follow
through with our international meeting this year.
As the interdisciplinary theme of biological interfaces will
certainly continue to be highly relevant we have decided
to shift the meeting to fall 2021 and retain topic, program
and location as far as possible.
We will also continue to showcase different German
research consortia associated with the meeting topic.
The new date will be
September 27th-29th 2021.
