International Meeting
International Meeting of the German Society
for Cell Biology 2015
March 24-27, 2015, Cologne
Dear Ladies and Gentleman,
On behalf of the board of the German Society of Cell Biology (DGZ) and the local organization committee it is my pleasure
to announce the 2015 International German Society for Cell Biology meeting in Cologne that will take place from March 24 to
March 27 2015 at the University of Cologne.
In 2015, the DGZ will exist 40 years and this festive occasion will be celebrated with a plenary meeting covering important break-
throughs in cell biology in recent years. We have furthermore assembled a very exciting and diverse program with internationally
renowned speakers that are at the forefront of their fields. Topics covered among others are the
cell biology of ageing, stem
cells, epithelial structure and function, mitochondria, cytoskeletal regulation, protein transport, proteostasis, genome regu-
lation and signal transduction
. One plenary session on stem cells and cell fate is organized together with the Dutch Society for
Cell Biology. More information on the topics and session chairs can be found on the poster.
The meeting will also strongly support young scientists by short talks, poster sessions, educational and technical events. This
year we have added a new session to promote young independent scientists called "Young Investigator Satellite meetings". Young
independent researchers could propose topics not covered in the main meeting until the end of October and organize a small
mini-symposium to promote their field and four of these are presently selected.
These are exciting times in cell biology, as the recent Nobel prize for super resolution microscopy recently emphasized. As more
and more areas in molecular cell biology touch upon each other the Internal German Cell Biology offers an excellent opportuni-
ty to familiarize yourself with a range of topics relevant for your own field. It also provides ample opportunities through poster
sessions and social events to meet colleagues, share ideas which may open avenues of collaboration on all levels. We therefore
encourage scientists of all levels to come and share in the exciting science
The 2015 meeting venue also offers meeting participants to discover through the exhibition the latest in technology develop-
ments. The meeting halls, exhibition space and poster presentations are all in close vicinity guaranteeing excellent conditions for
intensive exchange between participants and exhibitioners.
As in recent years, MCI Deutschland GmbH is in charge of the organization of the meeting. For questions regarding exhibition
and sponsoring please contact Mrs. Iohanna Vater, E-mail:
For general organizational questions,

Of note, day passes are also available

As chair of the organization committee, I hope to welcome you to the International German Society for Cell Biology Meeting in
March 2015 in Cologne.
