Meeting Report
common theme throughout the
conference it became clear that
biophysics gained more and
more importance in cell biology.
This is mainly due to our aim to
understand cell biological pro-
cesses up to the mechanistic
level, which of course also inclu-
des the quantification of forces,
rates and concentrations. Huge
advances in this respect came
from the development of novel
quantitative live cell imaging
methodology, which was presen-
ted in an outstanding session on
quantitative imaging of cell dy-
namics
. In addition two special
lectures, the
Carl Zeiss Lecture
by
Ernst Stelzer and the
Frontiers in
Science Lecture
by Eugene My-
ers, focussed on cell imaging and
its quantification.
The DGZ Executive Board: Carien Niessen, Oliver Gruss, Ralph Gräf, Klemens Rottner.
Discussions during an afternoon beer break between sessions.
